Authorities have rescued a teenager who fell 10 metres down an embankment yesterday at Launceston's Cataract Gorge.

Police found a 16-year-old girl half a kilometre from the suspension bridge towards the Duck Reach Power Station at 8:30pm.

The girl slipped on rocks while trying to climb out of the Gorge and dislocated her knee.

She was taken to the Launceston General Hospital for treatment.
