A 38-year-old man has been stabbed multiple times at a house in regional Victoria.

Emergency crews were called to a home in Bendigo, 150km north of Melbourne, around 1am (AEDT) on Thursday, where they found a man in the backyard with a number of stab wounds.

Paramedics took the 38-year-old Bendigo North man to Bendigo Base hospital, where he was recovering from non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police have urged witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.
