Victoria Police say a Melbourne rap artist accused of a string of car jackings is armed with a shotgun and poses a threat to the public.

Corinthian Morgan, also known by the rap moniker Mr Morgz, is wanted over a series of attempted armed robberies and car jackings.

Morgan skipped bail and failed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court in October.

One of the 27-year-old's alleged victims is a 70-year-old woman.

Police beleive he is armed with a sawn-off shotgun and is acting erratically.

Detective Senior Constable Meaghan Briggs says police are concerned that Morgan's offending will escalate.

She says he is a danger to himself and to the public.

"The longer he is out there, the more dangerous the situation can become," she said.

"The message to [Morgan] and his family is that the best way to help him out is to get him to hand himself in.

"While he is at large, there is a risk of another offence occurring."
