Print PageTwo boys aged 10 and 11 have been charged with starting the fire that caused millions of dollars of damage to the town hall and shire headquarters in the West Australian town of Onslow.
Karratha detectives charged the two boys after an investigation into the suspicious fire which began last Sunday.
The fire in the Pilbara shire started around 7.15pm WST on Sunday, and after firefighters and local emergency volunteers extinguished the blaze by midnight, the fire re-ignited at around 3am WST before it was completely extinguished by 6am WST.
The fire completely destroyed the entire shire offices building, including the library, as well as the adjoining Onslow town hall.
Police confirmed the damage was estimated to be valued at several millions of dollars.
The two boys have been charged with two counts each of aggravated burglary, stealing and criminal damage by fire.
They will appear in the Onslow Childrens Court on Thursday.
Police said four more juveniles who were below the criminal age of responsibility, which in Western Australia is aged 10, have been dealt with in accordance with the Young Offenders Act.
