VOICE-OVER SCRIPT:

FLOODWATERS ARE COVERING LARGE AREAS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN INDIANA, AFTER DAYS OF HEAVY RAIN.

UP TO FIVE INCHES OF RAIN FELL OVER THE WEEKEND, SENDING RIVERS AND STREAMS OVER THEIR BANKS AND AROUND PEOPLES' HOMES.

SOUNDBITE: Leigh Ann Peercy | Luxhaven, Indiana Resident

(REPORTER): Is that your car there?

PEERCY: "Yes, and that's what I was looking to see if I could get to work because the muffler needs to be out of the water to go anywhere."

SOME PEOPLE ARE TRAPPED IN THEIR HOMES, WHILE LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE HAD TO RESCUE OTHERS.

AT LEAST ONE TRAFFIC DEATH IS BLAMED ON THE WEATHER.

THE FLOODS HAVE ALSO SHUT DOWN A NUMBER OF STATE ROADS, AS WELL AS SCHOOLS.

THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS WARNING MOTORISTS TO TURN AROUND, IF THEY ENCOUNTER FLOODED ROADS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS FLOODING COULD PERSIST IN SOUTHWEST INDIANA THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
