More Victorian firefighters are due in Tasmania today, two days after the death of one of their colleagues.

61 year old Victorian Peter Cramer died of natural causes while he was working alone near Taranna on Sunday.

Tasmania's Chief Fire Officer Mike Brown says Mr Cramer's death is a huge blow but it hasn't distracted interstate crews.

Replacements from Victoria are due in Hobart today, and a third contingent is planned.

Mr Brown says the demand for resources is now stretched in several states, including Victoria, and it is important to get the balance right.

"They too are expecting bad weather late next week, so I'm talking constantly with my Victorian colleagues about the type of resourcing we need," he said.

Temperatures are expected to top 30 degrees in some parts of Tasmania on Thursday, with windy conditions forecast for the afternoon.
