The South Australian government has declined to comment on a report Premier Jay Weatherill is soon to reshuffle his front bench.

Adelaide Now reports Transport and Infrastructure Minister Pat Conlon and Health Minister John Hill will leave cabinet because they are unlikely to contest the next state election in March 2014.

It says Environment Minister Paul Caica will also soon step down from cabinet and tips Industrial Relations Minister Russell Wortley will likely lose his position.

Mr Weatherill is expected to replace the four departing ministers with just two, reducing the size of cabinet from 15 to 13, it was reported.

The premier said he did not comment on "speculation of this sort".

A Labor reshuffle would follow last year's unsuccessful leadership challenge to Liberal Leader Isobel Redmond.

Ms Redmond saw off the challenge from former health spokesman Martin Hamilton-Smith and then reshuffled her front bench, elevating Steven Marshall to deputy leader.
