Police say a shooting at Seaton in Adelaide's west early on Sunday morning was not a random attack.
A family of seven was inside the Pedlar Street home when up to three shots were fired at the screen door.
A five-year-old girl was among those sleeping when a gunman threw rocks at the window just before 12:30am.
Seconds later he opened fire but no-one was injured.
A 15-year-old boy who was inside the house says he was forced to duck for cover.
"First I heard the window break and I came down to see what happened and I saw them fire the shot gun," he said.
"After he shot the gun he says 'I will be back', or something like that."
The gunman was wearing dark clothing and witnesses say he drove off after the incident.
Police say it is not a random shooting and are investigating whether it is bikie-related.
Neighbours say it is not the first time there has been trouble in the area.
In April last year half a dozen shots were fired into a different house on the same street.
At the time police said it may have been a case of mistaken identity.
